By Storm “Tartan Spirit” Fashion Show by Joyce Young
In April 2011, a group of us were invited to dress at a Fashion Show in Carnoustie, Scotland for Tartan Day.
Hosted by Carnoustie Golf Hotel, the extremely talented Joyce Young (By Storm and Tartan Spirit Designer) presented her uniquely modern but traditionally Scottish tartan women’s wear designs, the video to follow will explain the show in more depth.
Our job’s were to dress and organize the model’s and make sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. Despite the small number of extremely professional models (two of which were ex-Miss Scotlands) backstage was incredibly hectic and there were accessories and pins flying everywhere! As expected with a fast-paced Fashion Show. I loved every minute of it – we were each paired with one or two models and provided each dresser was prepared with unzipped skirts and half-buttoned blouses while their models walked – it was a doddle.
Not to mention the clothing was BEAUTIFUL! I’ve definitely got my eye firmly on a number of pieces from Joyce Young’s amazing collections!
Joyce herself was wonderful to work with – An extremely pleasant and patient woman who knows what she wants and how she wants things to look but took her time explaining things to us and was open to suggestions with accessories and how items were to be worn!
Definitely someone I’d be more than happy to work for again!
